Client-side proof is the true privacy protection

Recently studied Miden's technical implementation, and found that their smartest move is—placing the proof generation process on the user side.

Compared to the current mainstream ZK-Rollup solutions. Projects like Aztec and StarkNet follow this process: your transaction is first sent to the sequencer, who is responsible for packaging, processing, generating the proof, and then submitting the proof on-chain. Sounds standard, right? But the problem is, during this step, your data must pass through the hands of the sequencer. Even if the data is encrypted, in theory, the sequencer can still see it.

This is what makes Miden different. User-side proofs mean sensitive data doesn't need to flow to centralized nodes at all, ensuring privacy from the framework level. This is the true decentralized privacy approach.

To be honest, I've been tired of the sequencer approach for a long time; once the data circulates, privacy is gone. The idea behind Miden is indeed clever; client-side proofs directly cut out the middlemen from profiting through arbitrage.

Oh wow, someone finally explained this clearly. Having the Sequencer act as an intermediary is essentially cheating, and the excuse about data encryption is just for show.

Well said, the key node of the sequencer is really the bottleneck for privacy. It seems that encryption can't actually prevent insiders.

I've already said that sequencer is a privacy nightmare, and Miden's move is indeed ruthless.

To be honest, I'm no longer interested in the sequencer scheme; it's just centralized with a different disguise.

It should have been done this way earlier; sequencer is the Achilles' heel of privacy.

Oh, Miden's gameplay is indeed interesting. Not leaving home to get data is definitely a clever move.

Oh, the sequencer is acting as an intermediary here, and the data still has to go through it. No wonder privacy always feels just a bit off.

Haha, finally someone has explained this point clearly. The Sequencer is playing with your data, and no matter how much you encrypt it, it's useless.
