# Long-term Holders Are Realizing the Most Profits in 10 Years
On-chain analytics firm Glassnode has released a new report with some interesting numbers.
Long-term Bitcoin holders have realized **2.37 million BTC (worth about $260 billion)** in profits during the 2024-2025 cycle.
The last time so many profits were realized was during the 2016-2017 bull market, when 3.93 million BTC were realized.
# # Why the sudden increase in selling?
BTC hit an all-time high of $124,167 on August 14, then dropped about 11% to $110,761. It seems that big players rushed to take profits here.
This follows the same pattern as previous cycles, where explosive gains are followed by corrections. Analysts point out that "the market structure remains healthy and institutional capital continues to flow in."
In short, long-term holders are taking profits, but the major trend hasn't changed.
