As of now, the event contract trading volume has exceeded $1.27 million. The contract rules are: If the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s shutdown starting from February 14, 2026 lasts at least the number of days listed for this market (including the start and end dates), it will be settled as “Yes,” otherwise it will be settled as “No.” The end date of the shutdown will be determined by the date of the appropriations bill for restarting the Department of Homeland Security that takes effect by presidential signature or otherwise; announcements that it is about to restart are not counted. U.S. President Trump has just said he will sign an order to pay salaries to all employees of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
