Japanese giant Metaplanet announced that it plans to sell bonds worth 21.25 million dollars to continue its Bitcoin (BTC) purchases.

Metaplanet announced that it signed a new loan agreement worth 21.25 million dollars with EVO FUND on May 9. This was the third borrowing transaction following two separate bond sales of 25 million dollars each that took place last week. The company stated that the bonds subject to the sale will not make interest payments and that the repayment date will be November 9, 2025.

The company currently has an approximate Bitcoin stock of 5,555 BTC worth around 576 million dollars. This amount ranks it 11th among publicly traded companies and gives it the largest Bitcoin reserve among companies outside North America. Metaplanet’s publicly traded shares closed on Friday at 524 yen, up 2.75%, surpassing the 1.56% increase of the Nikkei 225 index.
