California surpasses Japan, rising to become the fourth largest economy in the world.

Mars Financial News, the California Governor’s Office announced that California has surpassed Japan and jumped to become the world’s fourth largest economy. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, California’s nominal gross domestic product (GDP) stands at $4.1 trillion, surpassing Japan’s $4.02 trillion and ranking behind the United States, China, and Germany. At the same time, California’s economy is growing faster than the world’s top three economies; Over the past four years, California’s economy has continued to grow strongly, with nominal GDP growing at an average annual rate of 7.5% from 2021 to 2024.
