On April 17, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said on Wednesday that the Federal Reserve is ready to provide dollar liquidity if necessary through its swap lines with other central banks. Answering a question at an event at the Economic Club of Chicago, Powell said: We want to ensure the availability of dollars. “The reason we’re doing this is because it’s very good for American consumers,” he said. Therefore, we will continue to do so because the US dollar is part of the global reserve currency.
