Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin shared his thoughts on migrating the Ethereum virtual machine to the open architecture RISK-V.

According to him, this proposal is comparable to Beam Chain in terms of ambition and may be the only way to significantly improve network execution efficiency.
RISK-V — a processor and software architecture that serves as an alternative to ARM and x86. Vitalik Buterin believes that the transformation addresses several scalability issues of L1 Ethereum, particularly in maintaining competition in block mining and the limited capabilities of ZK-EVM.
Existing smart contracts will remain compatible, and developers can continue to write using Solidity or Vyper.
In his comments on Buterin's proposal, Adam Cochran, a partner at Cinneamhain Ventures, agreed on the potential benefits of the mainnet but expressed doubts about the correctness of the prioritization of transition costs. He also pointed out the inadequacy of L2's advantages.
Previously, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams urged Ethereum developers not to change the direction of recent years, prioritizing Layer 2 networks as a key element for scalability.
