Vitalik warns of AI risks, while also bullish on AI agents as a potential new interface for things

PANews, January 10th - Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, wrote on X platform that the improper use of AI will create a new type of independent, self-replicating intelligent life. The correct use of AI, on the other hand, is to create a mechanical armor for human thinking. If we only achieve the former without the latter, humanity will face the risk of permanent loss of power. However, if we achieve the latter, we will usher in a prosperous super-intelligent human civilization. In addition, in response to the question of whether 'Agents' or enhancing human agency is a design choice, Vitalik said, 'Agents' is an interesting term. Sometimes it refers to 'AI that can autonomously operate and come up with complex plans lasting days without human intervention,' but more often it simply means 'chatbots replacing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) as the interface for everything.'
