19-year-old Singaporean encryption trader ambushed during offline exchange of USDT, two suspects have been arrested
BlockBeats News, on September 5th, according to Protos, a 19-year-old Singaporean cryptocurrency trader was ambushed by two men when he tried to exchange 32,000 Singapore dollars (about 24,000 US dollars) for USDT. They punched him and chased him through a nearby shopping center, forcing him to abandon the face-to-face transaction. This teenager is only known as ‘ZK’. On August 29th, when he met with a cryptocurrency seller in a parking lot, he was attacked by two men. ZK said that during the transaction, the two men looked like ‘ordinary pedestrians’, but one of them suddenly punched him in the left face as they passed by. Fearing that these people were going to rob him of his cash, ZK said he immediately ran to the nearby shopping center and shouted for help. The two men then chased after him, but ZK said he managed to shake them off and reported the incident to the police. The transaction was made through Telegram contacts. ZK explained that although he had never traded with the seller before, he decided to proceed because he needed USDT and the seller was the only person who contacted him. He also said that he wanted to buy USDT in person to save on transaction fees. He explained, ‘Given my trading frequency, it is unreasonable to bear the fees and other costs.’ The two initially agreed to meet in a public mall, where ZK would hand over the cash to the seller, and the seller would send the USDT directly to his wallet. However, the seller changed the location to a nearby parking lot at the last minute. According to reports, the Singapore police arrested two men, aged 20 and 21, on suspicion of attempted robbery.
