On July 16, local time, former United States President Trump announced that Ohio Senator James · David ·Vance will participate in the 2024 presidential election as his running mate, that is, vice presidential candidate. Vance is 39 years old and has been a senator for less than two years. He reportedly graduated from Yale Law School and served in the United States Marine Corps. Before running for office in 2022, he worked in the field of venture capital. The Associated Press reported that Vance is one of the staunch defenders of “making United States great again” in foreign policy, trade and immigration. According to the report, Vance’s addition will inject some “millennial energy” into the presidential election. Mr. Trump has said that his primary consideration for a vice presidential candidate is whether he can “succeed” him after his second term.
