Arbitrum DAO votes on a $1.5 million reward package for proactive representatives

Arbitrum DAO is about to make a decision on a new incentive program aimed at rewarding governance representatives with stable and transparent participation in voting processes.

The proposal was published by the Arbitrum team on the forum on 19/11, targeting compensation for “active representatives who focus on voting records and openly disclose reasons for each voting decision.”

According to the proposal, the main goal is to “reduce apathy in voting” and increase genuine voting power. To qualify for rewards, representatives must participate in all votes and “publicly disclose reasons for their voting decisions” within five days after the vote concludes.

This is similar to “giving red envelopes” at general meetings of publicly listed companies in Vietnam.

The voting will end today, and data from Snapshot shows that 53.59% support the program, 31.71% abstain, and 14.7% oppose. If approved, the DAO will allocate about $1.5 million annually for rewards.

The results show more than 50% approval | Source: Arbitrum The specific reward amount depends on the eligible voting rights percentage of each representative, the proposal type, remaining budget, and other compliance criteria. Each proposal will have a maximum reward for each representative: important on-chain votes can earn up to $700, while smaller off-chain votes have a cap of $300.

To participate in the program, representatives must meet a minimum voting rights requirement — specifically, holding at least 200,000 ARB, worth approximately $41,100 at the current price of $0.2056. Only representatives maintaining this minimum voting power and participating in at least 75% of proposals each month will be eligible for rewards.

Meanwhile, the ARB price is under pressure, down 6% in the past 24 hours and 27% over the last 30 days.

If approved, the program will be implemented for one year. The DAO Operations Committee will publicly monitor reward disbursements and manage the budget quarterly. If the program is discontinued early, unspent funds will be returned to the DAO treasury.
