[EU Official: The EU believes trade negotiations with the US are accelerating] Polish Deputy Minister of Economy Baranowski said on Thursday that negotiations between the EU and the US are speeding up, but the EU prefers to reach a good protocol rather than quickly concluding a trade agreement. Trump imposed a series of tariffs affecting European automobile, steel, and aluminum manufacturers, but later reduced the tariffs to 10% for a period of 90 days to facilitate negotiations. "We are seeing some optimistic factors because we see elements from the US side that are easing the situation," Baranowski, who chaired the EU trade officials meeting, stated. "This is a good sign that negotiations with the EU are accelerating." EU Commission Vice President Šefčovič also told reporters before the meeting that he had a "constructive call" with US Secretary of Commerce Ross on Wednesday. Šefčovič said, "Our goal is to address the current challenges while also laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation." ( Jin10 )
