Notcoin co-founder: tap-to-earn game model may be "dead," Web3 games need to focus more on fun.

According to a report by Cointelegraph on May 5, the co-founder of the Web3 game project Notcoin stated at the Token2049 conference in Dubai that the tap-to-earn game model may be "dead" because this model cannot sustain player interest.

Notcoin co-founder Vladimir pointed out that game developers are shifting towards different types of games. Another co-founder, Sasha, stated that users tend to prefer fun games that can be played with friends rather than purely token mining. Although the first wave of games on the Telegram platform lacks social elements, Web3 can still play an important role in its gaming ecosystem.

Notcoin was once one of the most popular tap-to-earn games on Telegram in 2024, attracting over 30 million users within three months of its launch. Product lead Uliana Salo stated that although the tap-to-earn model has declined, the Web3 gaming industry on Telegram is still expected to achieve exponential growth.
