Amazon to add investment in Anthropic, up to $25 billion, with the latter pledging to spend more than $100 billion on AWS in the next decade.

Amazon announced it will add investment of up to $25 billion to Anthropic, Claude’s parent company, including $5 billion available immediately, with the remaining $20 billion injected in batches depending on the achievement of commercial milestones.
Previously, Amazon had already invested a cumulative $8 billion in Anthropic; after this round is completed, the total investment will reach $33 billion. In return, Anthropic pledges to spend more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the next 10 years, and plans to deploy about 1 gigawatt of computing power by the end of the year using Trainium2 and Trainium3 chips, with a long-term target of 5 gigawatts. After the news was released, Amazon’s after-hours stock price rose by about 2.7%.
