Just looked into what people actually spent on last year's Super Bowl and honestly, the numbers are kind of wild. The average ticket was going for around $9,200, and if you wanted the cheapest seat? Still looking at $4,700 minimum. That's before you even think about flights or where you're staying.

I found it interesting that the get-in prices were down 21% compared to the year before when the Chiefs played the 49ers in Vegas, so apparently there's a bit of a break on spending this time around. Still, the average sale price hit $6,206 according to data I saw, making it one of the most expensive events at the Superdome in recent years. For context, Super Bowl 47 averaged like $2,388 back in the day.

Beyond just the ticket, the full cost of attending gets pretty steep. Flights averaged $872 for a roundtrip if you're flying domestically, though direct flights were pushing $1,231. Then you're looking at another $1,200+ for a hotel night in New Orleans. So yeah, people were definitely dropping serious money to actually be there.

One thing I noticed is that if you wanted to catch the best ticket prices, the sweet spot was buying either 3-4 days before or on game day itself. Prices seemed to creep up 1-2 days before the event. And if you were just watching from home? Even that had a cost - wings were running about 7% more expensive, and a full snack spread for 10 people was hitting around $139.
