Recently, I’ve been practicing one thing every day: before giving instructions to AI, I first understand what I really want.

It sounds trivial. But I’ve realized that most of the time, we really can’t articulate clearly.
“Help me organize this table” — organize what? Clean up the table or write a summary? Who is it for?
“Analyze this” — analyze which aspect? Do I want a conclusion or just the process?
After a week of practice, the most surprising discovery is that AI hasn’t changed; I have. I’ve started to see that I’ve been throwing vague questions, and AI just faithfully reflects that vagueness back to me.
Now, before writing a prompt, I pause for three seconds and break down “Help me...” into three questions: task, target, and format. I ask myself these questions. The same model can give completely different responses depending on how I frame it.
This practice is quite challenging; it requires deep digging into my intentions and purpose, and every day I come up with new ideas. But I believe that with consistent daily practice, I can sharpen my prompt skills to a very fine edge 💪
