Base Discovery officially begins. Base supports over 10 projects co-investing. Don't wait until it's over and regret missing the opportunity to get on board.
Author: City Protocol
Event time: April 7, 2026 10:00 EST to April 21, 2026 10:00 EST
Entry: Viral City → City Rewards
This is the highest-value joint incentive campaign in the Base ecosystem this year.
Just today, City Protocol officially launched the Base Discovery campaign on the Base App. This is not a task campaign that some small project put together on its own. It’s a large-scale incentive campaign funded by 10+ Base ecosystem projects together—and they also received direct support from Base.
As everyone knows, Base doesn’t just back whoever.
First, take a look at the lineup to get a feel for it: Brett, Upshot, City Protocol, Anichess, Heurist, Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, OmenX, Billions, Coinhero. These are projects with real products running in the Base ecosystem—not the “temporary band” setups you often saw over the past two years.
Why should you go do it now? The window is only 14 days, and participation is still low. You don’t need me to explain the advantages of getting in early.
The core design of this campaign is a two-layer structure: a total reward pool + independent Bonuses for each project.
Let me make the most important thing crystal clear: as long as you complete the Booth task for any one project, you’ll be eligible to participate in the distribution of the total reward pool. Yes—even if you only do the task for one project, you’re already in the total pool.
This total reward pool is funded jointly by Base and all 10+ participating projects, and the value speaks for itself. Of course, the more projects you do, the larger your share in the total pool. So the best strategy is to do as many as you can—but the barrier is really not high. Do one and you can participate.
Outside the total reward pool, each project also has its own independent Bonus. These are extra rewards on top of the total pool—meaning when you do a project’s Booth task, you effectively eat two rewards: your share of the total pool + that project’s Bonus.
For example, the project Bonuses are roughly like this: Brett puts up $1,000 worth of BRETT tokens (Top 300 can share), City Protocol directly puts up $5,000 worth of future CP tokens, Anichess provides $5,000 worth of CHECK tokens, Heurist has $300 HEU reserved for 10 lucky users, Upshot sends 50 Packs plus 5,000 XP, Billions offers a Power Bonus of up to 1,000, and Coinhero does a $50 Pack giveaway. Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, and OmenX also have their own Mindshare reward mechanisms.
In short: a dozen-plus projects pool money to get you to participate, and Base also backs them. This kind of scale and lineup is genuinely a first for the Base ecosystem.
If you’ve been paying attention to the Base ecosystem, you should know that the whole market is currently waiting for one thing: when will the Base token actually arrive.
In September 2025, Base leadership publicly said they are exploring the launch of a network token. This is a major shift, because before that, Coinbase’s stance had always been “won’t issue a token.” Although the team hasn’t provided a specific timeline yet, the market generally expects the token launch to be between 2026 Q2 and Q4.
J.P. Morgan’s research team believes a Base token could bring Coinbase equity value gains of as much as $34 billion. This isn’t a small number, and it also shows how seriously Wall Street is taking expectations for a Base token.
So what does that mean? It means that right now, building on-chain activity records and community contributions in the Base ecosystem may directly affect whether you can benefit from future Base token upside. Base Discovery provides exactly such a low-barrier, high-exposure participation entry. Every task you do, every project you follow, every post you publish—all leave tracks in your on-chain records.
Alright, next is the most important part. I’ll do my best to write it in detail so you can just follow along.
Step 1: Enter the campaign page
Open your Base App (mobile), then go directly to Viral City’s campaign page:
👉
If you haven’t downloaded the Base App yet, go to the app store and search for “Base” to download it. The registration process is simple—you can sign up with an email address or a Coinbase account. Once you’re in, you’ll see the main interface of the Base App, with a navigation bar at the bottom.
After entering Viral City, find the City Rewards section. You’ll see the entry for the Base Discovery campaign—tap it to enter.
Step 2: Understand the structure of the campaign’s main page
After you enter Base Discovery, you’ll see the Booths of all participating projects. Each project has its own Booth, and inside it are the specific tasks set by that project. On the page, you can also see the event countdown and your current points/rank status.
You can think of each Booth as a project’s “stall”—go in and complete the tasks.
Step 3: Choose a project Booth and complete the tasks
Click into any project’s Booth. Inside, it will list the specific tasks the project requires you to complete. Task content differs across projects, but generally includes these two types:
Follow-type tasks: For example, follow that project’s Base App account. This is the simplest one—just tap and you’re done.
Engagement-type tasks: For example, like, comment on, or repost one of that project’s posts. Some projects may require you to publish an original post about them on the Base App, including specific hashtag(s).
After completing each task, you’ll get a clear status prompt telling you whether you successfully finished it. It’s recommended that you confirm the status after each one—don’t spend half a day only to find it wasn’t recorded.
Step 4: Do as many as possible—the optimal solution is to finish them all
Earlier I said: completing the tasks in any Booth gets you into the total reward pool. But the more Booths you do, the bigger your share in the total pool. So if you have time, it’s recommended you complete the Booth tasks for all 11 projects.
Specifically, you can follow this order, starting with the easier ones:
First, do the Booths that only require following and liking. These tasks take only a few minutes. Then do the Booths that require posting and engagement—spend some time writing a few pieces of high-quality content (don’t copy-paste the same line; that’s too obvious and can easily be marked invalid). Finally, do the Booths that require on-chain interactions. These may require you to connect your wallet—make sure there’s a small amount of ETH in your wallet to pay gas on the Base chain (Base gas fees are very low; usually just a few cents is enough).
Step 5: Keep an eye on your rank and points
After you complete the tasks, go back to the Base Discovery main page to see your points and rank. Some projects distribute their Bonus based on rank (for example, Brett’s $1,000 BRETT only goes to Top 300), so if you want to get a specific project’s Bonus, pay attention to your rank under that Booth.
During the campaign, check back often—some projects may update tasks midway or add more rewards.
Step 6: Extra bonus items
In addition to completing the Booth tasks, the original content you publish around these projects in the Base App will also affect your Mindshare score. Mindshare is the core metric in City Protocol’s Virality Leaderboard—put simply, it’s your “attention contribution value” in the ecosystem.
So if you want to maximize your returns, don’t just do tasks and leave. Talk about these projects for real in the Base App—share your experience and write content that has useful information. These actions will be tracked by the Virality Leaderboard and have a positive impact on your overall reward share.
Quick summary of the participation path
Open Base App → Enter Viral City → City Rewards → Base Discovery → Select Booth and complete tasks → The more you do, the larger your share → Monitor your rank and points → Publish more related content in the Base App to boost Mindshare → After the campaign ends on April 21, rewards will be distributed.
Throughout the process, you don’t need to spend much money—mostly it’s about spending time. Gas fees on the Base chain are nearly negligible. What’s truly scarce is your attention and the 14-day window.
Let’s quickly sync up on Base’s actions this year to help you understand why doing these things at this time makes sense.
Base’s 2026 strategic focus is on three directions: expanding the on-chain market (including tokenized assets), advancing stablecoin payments, and growing the developer ecosystem. Concretely, Base will support tokenized trading of assets such as stocks and commodities, while strengthening crypto-native products like perpetual contracts and prediction markets.
As one of the most active Ethereum L2s since going live in 2023, Base already has a TVL of $3.85 billion. This February, it also announced it will gradually move away from Optimism’s OP Stack and switch to self-developed infrastructure, aiming to increase the frequency of major annual upgrades to about six times.
When you stack these signals together, Base is currently in a very critical expansion phase. In this stage, participating in ecosystem campaigns and accumulating on-chain data has clear strategic value.
As of the deadline on April 21, it’s a total of 14 days. Here’s the link—what happens next is up to you: Enter Base Discovery
