Mitsubishi UFJ: Mild US dollar appreciation reflects economic concerns

Mars Finance news: According to reports from JIn 10, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank FX analyst Derek Halpenny said in a report that the US dollar’s reaction to the surge in energy prices has been moderate, highlighting that the US economy’s underlying fundamentals are weaker now than they were during the inflation shock in 2022. He noted that since the outbreak of the conflict, although crude oil prices have risen by nearly 60%, the US Dollar Index has strengthened by only about 2.5%. The current price shock’s impact on the US economy may exceed expectations, undermining business confidence and employment.
