Saw something interesting pop up in the Solana ecosystem recently. Mable Jiang, who was handling growth at FSL (the company behind Stepn), just announced she's stepping away to launch a new project called Trends. This is a social protocol focused on information finance and value coordination.

What caught my attention is the backer list. This isn't some random project - we're talking Anatoly Yakovenko from Solana, Lily Liu heading the Solana Foundation, Jupiter's Meow & Siong, Bryan Pellegrino from LayerZero, TN Lee from Pendle, the Drift Protocol founders, Magic Eden's Zhuoxun Yin, and a bunch of other serious builders. Even Su Zhu and Tushar Jain from Multicoin are in there. That's a pretty strong signal when you see that many quality names aligning.

Mable Jiang laid out three core observations driving this. First, real Web3 innovation comes with dramatically lower costs for moving value around. Second, tokens are becoming information containers and merging with social platforms in ways we haven't fully explored yet. Third, on-chain transaction costs keep dropping, and social use cases are actually ready for this infrastructure now.

The initial play is positioning Trends as a curation layer for X, essentially building on-chain reputation systems for content. But the bigger vision is expanding beyond Twitter - they're thinking TikTok-style open content eventually, with everything coordinated through on-chain capital and deep integration between content, reputation, and actual value flow.

This feels like one of those moments where you're seeing experienced founders identify a gap and move on it. Mable Jiang bringing together this coalition of builders suggests they've thought through the mechanics. Worth keeping an eye on how this develops, especially if they can actually execute on connecting social engagement with on-chain economics in a way that doesn't feel forced.
