Mars Finance news: On April 5, according to NBC, the prediction market platform Polymarket issued an apology for allowing users to place bets on the fate of a pilot aboard a U.S. fighter jet that was shot down over Iranian airspace. Earlier, a U.S. official said that a two-seat F-15E “Strike Eagle” U.S. fighter jet was shot down on Friday. One of the crew members has been rescued, but the other remains missing.

In a market that was later deleted, users could predict when the pilot would be recovered, and most people guessed that he would be rescued on Saturday. The market headline read, “Has the U.S. confirmed the pilot will be recovered…?” U.S. Representative Seth Moulton—an American Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq—severely criticized the market in a post on the social platform X, saying that while Iran is carrying out a dangerous search-and-rescue operation, there are still people speculating about it.

In response to Seth Moulton’s post on X, Polymarket said it was sorry and that it had taken the market down. The company wrote: “We removed this market immediately because it does not meet our integrity standards. This content should not have been published in the first place, and we are investigating how it managed to bypass our internal review mechanisms.”
