Gate News reports that Pi Network is advancing key technological upgrades, planning to launch a cross-chain bridge feature to enable interoperability with other blockchains. This development is seen as a significant milestone toward an open Web3 ecosystem and is expected to change the current relatively closed operational model. According to the latest disclosures, the cross-chain bridge will support asset transfers between different networks, providing greater flexibility for Pi Coin at the application layer. Developers will also be able to access more external resources, thereby expanding DeFi, payment, and on-chain service scenarios. Additionally, the project team is introducing a KYB (Know Your Business) verification mechanism, allowing Web2 and Web3 enterprises to connect directly to the Pi wallet system after certification, further enriching the ecosystem applications.

On the technical front, Pi Network is also working on developing smart contract functionality. Once implemented, developers will be able to build decentralized applications, including financial protocols, games, and various on-chain tools. When combined with cross-chain capabilities, this will significantly enhance the network’s scalability and practical value. However, these features are expected to be gradually rolled out after further improvements to the mainnet.

At the infrastructure level, Pi Coin recently launched testnet RPC interfaces and completed multiple node upgrades, such as Protocol 21, to improve network stability and development efficiency. On-chain data shows that over 10 billion Pi Coins have migrated to the mainnet so far, but the circulating supply remains limited, with many tokens locked.

From a development perspective, Pi Network is attempting to build a comprehensive multi-chain ecosystem by leveraging cross-chain bridges, smart contracts, and enterprise access mechanisms to attract more developers and users. However, these features have not yet been fully implemented, and the progress of execution remains a key variable. If subsequent upgrades proceed smoothly, Pi could find new growth opportunities in the highly competitive Web3 market. $PI
