I want to start playing golf and was looking for a club set, but after comparing various options, I realized there are more choices than I thought. When I looked at popular beginner-friendly sets, it seems convenient to have a complete set that includes everything from woods to putters. I've heard that the 5W is especially recommended. Callaway's "X HOT" appears to be highly rated, priced around 115,000 yen for an 11-club set. It includes 4 irons, 3 wedges, and a putter, covering everything from driver to putter. Bridgestone's "BG-100" is also an 11-club set, costing about 74,000 yen. This one has a good balance of woods and irons, plus one utility club. The way you choose the 5W is apparently important, and it makes a big difference whether the set has a good variety of woods. Mizuno, Sumitomo Rubber, and TaylorMade also offer similar-priced sets with around 10 clubs. Ultimately, whether a beginner can start their course debut without needing to buy additional clubs seems to be the key. The basic configuration appears to be 2 woods, 4-5 irons, 2-3 wedges, and a putter. The reason the 5W is recommended is probably because it’s useful for long shots. Cheaper options start around 39,000 yen, but in those cases, the number of clubs tends to be fewer. I definitely want to start with a complete set.
