I just found out something interesting: when spring begins in the United States in 2026, it will be exactly on March 20th at 10:46 AM (Eastern Time). Basically, it's the equinox, the moment when the Sun crosses the equator and day and night are nearly the same length.

The curious thing is that it doesn't always fall on the same date. It can be March 19, 20, or 21 depending on the year and calendar adjustments. But in 2026, it's confirmed to be Friday the 20th. From there, daylight hours will gradually increase until the June solstice, when summer begins.

Spring will last about 92 days, so it extends until late June. During this time, temperatures will rise gradually, although depending on where you are in the country, the climate will vary quite a bit. Some states will be mild starting in March, while others may still experience surprise cold fronts.

What's unusual is that there are two ways to count when spring begins: the astronomical (which is with the equinox) and the meteorological (which starts on March 1st based on climate patterns). So technically, we’ve already been in meteorological spring for a little while, but the official start is coming soon.
