Recently, I started researching why so many people obsess over seeing repeated numbers on the clock. It turns out that this phenomenon we’ve all experienced at some point—when you look at your phone and see 11:11 or 19:19—has quite interesting explanations from two completely different perspectives.

The first is numerology, which functions as a kind of spiritual compass. It has no scientific backing, but it has a very strong collective resonance. Basically, it connects numbers with spiritual forces and states that each number has its own meaning, based on principles that Pythagoras laid out thousands of years ago. According to believers, numbers point us to opportunities and teach us the most beneficial path for our lives.

But there’s also synchronicity, a concept developed by Carl Gustav Jung. The Swiss psychologist defined it as the simultaneous occurrence of two events that are linked by meaning but without a causal relationship. Essentially, Jung argued that these temporal coincidences are not random but connect our conscious mind with the unconscious.

Now, not all mirror hours are the same. There are double hours where the hour and minutes are identical, like 11:11, which are the most well-known and supposedly carry direct messages. Then there are inverted hours, where the digits reflect each other but in reverse order, like 12:21, interpreted as signs of intuition. And there are palindromic hours, which read the same from left to right, like 13:31, considered symmetrical and associated with celestial synchronicities.

Each mirror hour combination has its own meaning. For example, 00:00 represents spiritual rebirth, while 05:05 is the official hour of love. 11:11 has a very strong energetic charge, linked to desires that can be fulfilled and considered a portal for manifestation. But 13:31 is interesting because it marks an obstacle that prevents progress, suggesting you need change and personal transformation.

What’s fascinating is that 07:07 is considered the perfect moment to make a wish, 08:08 recommends following your intuition, and 20:20 indicates that the person you’re thinking of is also thinking of you. Each mirror hour carries its own message, depending on which one it is.

Personally, I believe that whatever the explanation, the fact that millions of people find meaning in this is interesting in itself. Whether through numerology or synchronicity, these temporal coincidences make us pause and reflect, and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
