A Polymarket trader exploited a UFC broadcast mistake, arbitraging $676 in under a minute to $67,000, achieving nearly 100x profit.
Deep Tide TechFlow message. On March 30, according to CoinDesk, on Polymarket, a decentralized prediction market platform, a trader used a mistake in UFC event commentary to convert approximately $676 into approximately $67,000 within under one minute, earning nearly 100x profit.
In this UFC heavyweight bout, Tyrell Fortune defeated Marcin Tybura to win. However, the arena announcer, Bruce Buffer, initially misread the result, listing Tybura as the winner. As a result, the share price of Tybura on Polymarket briefly surged to $0.99, while Fortune’s share price fell to about $0.01.
After the false report occurred, the trader LlamaEnjoyer (X account Verrissimus) noticed the abnormality, abandoned the plan to buy $100,000 worth of Tybura shares at $0.99, and instead bought Fortune shares worth $676 at $0.01. A few seconds later, UFC corrected the broadcast, and the Fortune share price immediately rebounded to $1. The trader then profited about $67,000 from this.
