🐺 From the Ashes
Not everyone who loses everything loses what matters most. Sometimes they find it.
He walked alone.
He didn't want to think about what he left behind — but thoughts come unbidden, settling without permission. There were things he had carried for years on his shoulders. Invisible but heavy. So heavy.
One night he collapsed.
Not just stopped — collapsed from within. Not his knees, but his soul.
"Enough," he said to the darkness. The darkness didn't answer. It never would.
Morning cast a shadow over him.
He opened his eyes. Someone was there across from him — his face like stone, his eyes deep. He didn't know him. But there was something in those eyes, something so familiar.
The same exhaustion.
"Will you stand?" the man asked.
"Why should I stand?"
The man thought. He didn't lie, didn't comfort either.
"I don't know. But collapsing alone is heavier."
Days passed. The man didn't leave.
He didn't ask, didn't explain, didn't try to understand. He just was — and this was more than everything.
One night by the fire someone spoke:
"Why did you stay with me?"
A long silence.
"Because you would have stayed."
It was true.
And this truth struck him harder than the weight carried for years.
Because there are certain people —
Who don't try to fix you. Don't try to understand either.
They simply stand beside you.
In the darkness, in the silence, expecting nothing.
This — this is everything. 🐺
