Canton Network Secures Major Backing from Financial Infrastructure Leader DTCC

The privacy-focused blockchain Canton has achieved a significant milestone with DTCC’s decision to partner on tokenizing U.S. Treasury securities and other real-world assets. This strategic alignment represents a pivotal moment for blockchain technology adoption in traditional finance, marking the convergence of institutional markets with digital asset infrastructure.

SEC Approval Paves Way for Canton Integration with DTCC Services

DTCC’s partnership with Canton Network comes on the heels of securing a “No-Action Letter” from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, formally authorizing the financial infrastructure operator to launch and manage tokenization services for real-world assets held in DTC custody. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, which serves as the industry-owned clearing and settlement backbone for U.S. financial markets, has chosen Canton as its blockchain partner for this groundbreaking initiative.

The organizations are collaborating toward a minimum viable product (MVP) during the first half of 2026, operating within a controlled production environment. The scope is expected to expand progressively based on institutional demand and client feedback. Frank LaSalla, DTCC’s CEO, emphasized the strategic importance: “Our partnership with Digital Asset and the Canton Network represents a crucial advancement as we work toward building digital infrastructure that integrates traditional and digital financial ecosystems with unparalleled scalability and security.”

Canton Network: Privacy-Centric Design Meets Enterprise Requirements

Canton was engineered specifically to enable large institutions to issue, tokenize, and exchange real-world assets—including bonds, loans, and investment funds—on a shared distributed ledger infrastructure while preserving privacy safeguards and maintaining regulatory compliance. This privacy-focused architecture distinguishes Canton from other blockchain platforms vying for institutional adoption.

Digital Asset, the firm that created and developed Canton, has secured substantial backing from some of Wall Street’s most influential players. The investor consortium includes BlackRock, Blackstone, Nasdaq, S&P Global, Goldman Sachs, and Citadel Securities—a lineup that underscores the platform’s credibility and institutional readiness. This backing reflects confidence in Canton’s ability to bridge traditional finance and decentralized infrastructure.

DTCC Takes Leadership Role in Canton’s Decentralized Governance

Beyond the tokenization collaboration, DTCC has assumed a co-chair position within the Canton Foundation, joining alongside Euroclear in steering the network’s decentralized governance framework. This leadership appointment positions DTCC to actively shape industry standards for decentralized financial infrastructure and institutional blockchain adoption.

Yuval Rooz, Co-Founder and CEO of Digital Asset, highlighted the significance: “DTCC’s involvement not only accelerates institutional market penetration but establishes the groundwork for meaningful innovation, unlocking fresh liquidity channels, new financial products, and operational efficiencies across the ecosystem.”

The partnership signals that major financial infrastructure operators are prepared to transition real-world asset tokenization from theoretical concepts to production-ready systems, with Canton positioned as a preferred platform for this institutional-grade transformation.
