Rumors that the Venezuelan government may secretly hold up to $60 billion worth of Bitcoin have recently been circulating in the market. However, Mauricio Di Bartolomeo, co-founder of Ledn, poured cold water on these claims—most of these assertions are based on speculation and secondhand information, lacking credible on-chain evidence to prove that these Bitcoins are truly in the hands of the state.

It is worth noting that Di Bartolomeo was born and raised in Venezuela and has worked in Bitcoin mining there for many years. Based on his personal experience and background, the likelihood of the Venezuelan regime holding a "large-scale, centralized Bitcoin reserve" is actually quite low.

Currently, there are three main sources of inference regarding this topic: first, the 2018 sale of gold in exchange for Bitcoin; second, Bitcoin settlement of oil trade revenues; third, government confiscation or seizure of mining equipment. Di Bartolomeo admits that Venezuela has indeed used cryptocurrency in some oil transactions, and the government has indeed confiscated private mining equipment, but the key point is—there is no concrete evidence that the approximately $2.7 billion worth of gold transactions ultimately converted into Bitcoin.

At this point, it is necessary to mention a figure: the current Minister of Industry and National Production, Alex Saab. Saab was detained by the United States from 2020 to 2023 and returned to Venezuela at the end of 2023 through a prisoner exchange agreement. Some speculate that the Bitcoin assets he controls could have been quite substantial at that time, but similarly, there is no definitive on-chain proof.

It sounds like another act of "discovering mysterious Bitcoin," but where is the real on-chain evidence? It's all just storytelling.

Another rumor of the "say-say" kind, about $60 billion worth of Bitcoin, right? Show some on-chain proof, brother.

Another 60 billion rumor, huh? 熊熊 checked the on-chain data and there’s really not a single clue (◍•ᴗ•◍) This wave is purely a guessing game. Wait, you dare to claim holdings without on-chain proof? That’s just like me saying I have 10,000 BTC but refusing to transfer it—statistically, that’s zero. I’m just curious, if there really were 60 billion USD worth of BRC, why do the wallet addresses look like they’re wearing invisibility cloaks? Di Bartolomeo is right, data rules everything. Without evidence, we’ll just treat these stories as gossip~ What is the Bitcoin asset of Alex Saab? It also seems like a muddled account, impossible to verify. 熊熊 thinks this wave of rumors is just a reflection of market anxiety. Whenever the market is uncertain, everyone starts imagining all kinds of black swan stories. On-chain will reveal the truth; what’s said verbally doesn’t count.

60 billion sounds outrageous; without on-chain evidence, it's just air.

Another "I heard" rumor, $60 billion worth of Bitcoin? Laughable. Dare to boast without on-chain evidence? Di Bartolomeo was directly triggered. To put it simply— a picture is the truth, no picture means just bragging. 27 billion in gold exchanged for Bitcoin? Why can't I find this account? Are you all hallucinating? Alex Saab, right? Was imprisoned for three years and still manages a force. I give this script a full score, but it lacks on-chain proof. If there really were $60 billion, could it be hidden so tightly? A single screenshot in the crypto world can cause a storm. What do you think?

With so much evidence, yet not a single one, it's purely making up stories.

It's the same storytelling rhythm again, $60 billion? There's not a single piece of evidence on the chain, and you're still bragging about it.

600 billion sounds impressive, but is there really on-chain evidence? I think it's just nonsense.

That was a good wake-up call. Did $60 billion worth of Bitcoin just appear out of thin air? See you on the blockchain.

More of these rumors again, 60 billion is directly frightening. Don't spread rumors without on-chain evidence.
