Major crypto platforms face mixed signals as they explore diversification beyond digital asset trading. Analysts are split on whether expansion into broader financial services represents a smart move or a risky departure from core competencies. Some argue that moving into traditional finance could open massive revenue streams and attract mainstream users. Others contend that venturing too far from their blockchain expertise could dilute brand focus and invite regulatory headaches. The debate reflects deeper questions about the future of centralized exchanges in an evolving crypto ecosystem. As these platforms navigate market pressures and regulatory scrutiny, their strategic choices over the next 18 months could reshape the competitive landscape.

What are these CEXs really thinking? On one hand, they shout about believing in blockchain, and on the other hand, they want to get into traditional finance. Isn't that just wanting to put all their eggs in one basket... Forget it, I'll just hold my coins and watch. Anyway, they'll definitely have another crash within the next 18 months.

As for this matter, exchange expansion boils down to two paths—either to take a slice of the trad fi cake or to dismantle themselves. I actually think most exchanges don't have the capability for either.

I've seen this trick before. It's becoming more and more like traditional finance. Can it still be called crypto?

ngl, cex diversifying into trad finance sounds like watching someone burn gwei on mainnet when there's a perfectly good l2 sitting right there... like why make it complicated?
