On January 5th, SlowMist Technology Chief Information Security Officer @im23pds issued a warning that a new type of “2FA Security Verification” phishing scam has recently appeared targeting MetaMask wallets. The scammers imitate the MetaMask security alert page, tricking users into completing a so-called two-factor authentication process, which is actually aimed at stealing the mnemonic phrase. The process typically includes a fake security alert page, a false 2FA verification interface with a countdown timer, and ultimately guides users to input their wallet mnemonic phrase.
