From Meta, the metaverse giant, spending billions of dollars to acquire Manus, it’s clear that the funding scene in 2025 is already telling a story — choosing the right track can double your returns.
For entrepreneurs, a sense of direction is often more critical than other factors. A16z recently outlined some big ideas for 2026 that offer plenty of inspiration and are worth referencing.
There are several clear opportunities emerging in the infrastructure sector. Multimodal data processing is one — AI cannot stay in the pure dialogue stage; it needs to understand contract details, analyze surveillance footage, and comprehend business documents. The maturity of this capability will unlock many commercial scenarios.
The agent direction is also worth paying attention to. The application space for autonomous agents is still in its early stages, but the imagination is abundant. Founders with industry knowledge who get involved now will have a clear advantage in terms of technology and data.

Choosing the right track is really half the battle. The ones still able to get on board now are basically in infrastructure and Agent sectors.

To be honest, Meta's move this time is like holding up a mirror for future entrepreneurs. Choosing the wrong track can really be a waste of effort, but getting it right can make doubling your investment no dream.
I'm optimistic about the Agent sector; entering now can indeed secure a position. I'm just worried it might lead to another rush of people flooding in, turning into an internal competition hell.
Multimodal technology is reliable; pure chatbots have long been saturated. The real money lies in those that can genuinely handle practical business scenarios.

Multimodal processing is indeed a competitive bottleneck, but now there are so many teams entering the space that it's exploding... It feels like another round of an arms race—who spends more money wins.

The multimodal sector has indeed become competitive, but there are very few projects that can truly be implemented... By the way, what is Meta planning to do with this acquisition of Manus? Is the metaverse dream still not over?

Multimodal indeed has imagination, but to be honest, these days everyone is talking about infrastructure... The key question is how many of them can actually be implemented?
Will Agent entering the market now become another story of the younger generation being swept away by the older generation?

I'm optimistic about multimodal AI, but there are very few who can actually turn contract analysis into a product; most are still just talking about it on paper.
