The real turning point was due to his wife's brother, Xu Shanjiu, who was the director of the Jinzhou branch of the East Asia Daily. So he was able to all-in stockpile a large amount of supplies on the eve of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
A few months later, his gamble paid off successfully. That year, he was 30 years old.
