When devs skip token lockups, that's a massive red flag nobody should ignore. Honestly, 9 out of 10 times it screams potential exit scam. No vesting schedule? No lock-in period? They've basically got a free pass to dump and disappear. If the team behind a project won't commit their own tokens to the long game, ask yourself why you would. That's just asking for trouble.

Hypothesis: the absence of token lockups creates what I'd call a "temporal asymmetry" in incentive alignment—essentially, devs can exit the game while holders are still mid-play. Reminds me of the Byzantine generals problem but with capital flight instead of communication breakdowns.

No lock-up period? That’s basically sending a direct signal—run as far as you can if you're planning to run away.

*checks notes* ah yes, the classic "we forgot the vesting schedule" phase... watched this exact pattern unfold in 2017, 2021, and apparently we're speedrunning it again in 2024. statistically speaking, unlocked tokens are basically a dev's resignation letter written in advance.
history doesn't repeat but man does it rhyme with remarkable precision.

Developers do not lock tokens; I will just run it directly. Don't bother yourself.

I really don't touch projects without a lock-up period; I've seen too many of these schemes before.

I directly pass on projects without a lock-up period; I've seen this trick too many times.
