“And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.” (Luke 2:26)
How many men in the Bible received promises like this? Abraham was promised countless descendants. God gave Simeon a personal promise. Simeon was well advanced in age when it was fulfilled.
Imagine if he had given up on it, assuming it wasn’t meant for him or that he hadn’t heard clearly. Yet he continued to live faithfully, led by the Holy Spirit—a life shaped by trusting God to keep His promises. And he was one of the very few who God introduced to the baby Jesus.
