🚨 SUPREME COURT SIGNALS SUPPORT FOR TRUMP IN FIRING FEDERAL AGENCY LEADERS

• The US Supreme Court has shown a tendency to give the president more power to control federal agencies that are considered independent.

• Conservative justices question the precedent of Humphrey’s Executor (1935) – a ruling that protects the independence of the FTC and many other agencies.

• Case in point: President Trump seeks to fire Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, Commissioner of the FTC, even though current law only allows removal for “inefficiency, neglect, or misconduct”.

• If the precedent is overturned, a series of agencies such as the Labor Relations Board, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the Labor Anti-Discrimination Commission could lose their independence.

• Liberal justices warn of the risk of “massive, unchecked power in the hands of the president,” while conservatives argue that Congress created executive agencies but did not hold the president accountable.

• One highlight: The Court may still keep an exception for the Federal Reserve (Fed), which is considered a “unique quasi-private entity.”

👉 The final decision is expected to be released in July 2026, promising to be a major turning point in the balance of power between the president and federal agencies.
