Recently, I noticed an interesting data point: the number of active validator nodes on the Solana network has dropped significantly, from over 2,500 in March 2023 to around 800 now. This is quite a substantial decrease, and the change in the network’s level of decentralization is worth paying attention to. Some say it's a cost issue that has filtered out smaller nodes, while others believe it’s a natural consolidation as the network matures. Either way, the fact that the number of validators has been cut in half raises questions about Solana’s security and censorship resistance. The community is already buzzing with debate.

The number of validators was cut from 2,500 to 800. That ratio is a bit crazy—it feels like SOL is becoming more and more of a game for a small group of people.

ngl if you actually ran a proper gini coefficient analysis on sol's validator distribution, you'd realize this "natural consolidation" narrative is just cope. the math doesn't support it.

The number of validators has been cut in half, yet SOL is still holding steady—that's quite impressive. But honestly, it does look a bit risky.

Really? Slashed to 800? That must be burning a lot of money... Feels like another round of retail investors being forced out.

sol validators dropping from 2.5k to 800... that's not consolidation, that's a contraction wave I didn't price in correctly, ngl
