[爆炸] Has the 1.27 million BTC theft case been reversed?

In 2020, the LuBian mining pool was hacked, and 127,272 BTC (worth $3.5 billion at the time, now $15 billion) were stolen. The pool owner is Cambodian prince Chen Zhi, who also posted over 1,500 pleas on-chain asking the hacker to return the funds 😅.

The most ridiculous thing is that this huge sum of money has been sitting in the attacker's wallet for a full 4 years! A normal hacker would have cashed out and run away long ago, but this coin hasn't moved at all.

In June 2024, these coins were suddenly transferred to a wallet belonging to the U.S. government. In October of this year, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the seizure of 127,000 BTC under the name of Chen Zhi.

The technical team has discovered through in-depth tracking that the private key generation algorithm used by the LuBian mining pool has a fatal flaw—it only uses a 32-bit pseudo-random number instead of the standard 256-bit, which means that it can be cracked in just 4.29 billion attempts (approximately 1 hour). Hackers have exploited this vulnerability to brute-force over 5,000 weak-key wallets.

The current question is: The US government has had this cryptocurrency for a long time, why wait until 2025 to announce its confiscation? On-chain evidence points to the possibility of a “state-sponsored hacking operation”…
