How I trade crypto: an honest story of a newbie

I remember the first time I faced the need to transfer cryptocurrency to a friend. Let me tell you - it was quite a nightmare! No one properly explained where to click and what to enter. And then I almost sent my bitcoins into oblivion because of a silly typo in the address. I'll give you advice based on my mistakes.

Why I Chose Crypto Transfers

Honestly? I'm fed up with banks and their endless checks and fees. The last straw was sending money to my brother in another country - the bank took such a fee that I almost cried. With crypto, it's all different:

  • Speed: Sent - and in a couple of minutes the money is already there
  • Fees: If you choose the right network, the fee will be negligible.
  • No questions: No one asks why I am transferring money and where it comes from.
  • Works 24/7: No “sorry, it's the weekend now”

However, there are also downsides. If you mess up the address - say goodbye to your money forever.

How I Send Crypto: Personal Experience

This is how I currently make translations ( I learned from my mistakes ):

  1. I log into my wallet on a popular trading platform
  2. I choose the coin that I want to send. I usually use USDT through TRC20 - minimal fee!
  3. I click “Withdraw” and request the recipient's address
  4. I copy the address - I never enter it manually! This is the main rule.
  5. Checking the network - a network error can cost all the money
  6. I enter the amount and click “Confirm”
  7. I check everything three times before the final confirmation

When I transfer a large amount, I first send a test of 10 dollars. It's better to lose on an extra fee than to send all my savings into the void.

Commissions: how not to lose money

I once paid a $30 fee for a $100 transfer. It was a lesson. ETH networks can be terribly congested, and fees skyrocket.

My personal preferences:

  • USDT on TRC20: Pennies for transfer
  • BNB: Fast and inexpensive
  • Solana: Almost instantly

I avoid the Ethereum network for small transfers - the fees eat up everything.

My Failures and Lessons Learned

Once I sent money to an address on the wrong network. I sat there crying, thinking that the money was gone forever. I had to contact the platform's support, and by a miracle, I was able to recover the funds.

Now I fanatically check:

  • Address correctness
  • Network compliance
  • Reasonableness of the commission

And I always enable two-factor authentication. After my acquaintance lost his entire portfolio due to phishing, I became paranoid about security.

Why I continue to use crypto

Despite all the difficulties, crypto transfers have changed my life. I work with clients from different countries, and now I receive payments instantly, without bureaucracy and unnecessary questions.

Yes, you need to be careful. Yes, sometimes there are failures and delays. But freedom from the banking system is worth it. Crypto gives you the opportunity to control your finances independently – although with this freedom comes responsibility.

If you are just starting out, start small. And remember: in crypto, there is no “undo transfer” button — be careful!
