The United States plans to expand AI chip export controls to the global level; companies like NVIDIA, AMD, and others will need approval to export.

According to media reports citing insiders, U.S. officials have drafted a regulatory bill that would restrict shipments of artificial intelligence chips worldwide that have not been approved by the United States. The bill would grant Washington broad powers to decide whether and under what conditions other countries can build facilities used to train and run artificial intelligence models. The proposed regulations would require companies to apply for licenses in the United States in order to export nearly all AI accelerators produced by companies such as NVIDIA and AMD. This would expand the current regulatory measures, which cover about 40 countries, to a global scale. (First Finance and Economics)
