Oasys Releases Technical Roadmap Focused on Solving Three Major Challenges of Blockchain Games
Oasys Public Chain Releases Technical Roadmap, Aiming to Address Three Major Challenges in the Blockchain Gaming Industry
Japanese gaming public chain Oasys recently released its latest technical roadmap, marking an important milestone on the occasion of the project's two-year anniversary. This roadmap focuses on addressing the three core challenges currently faced in the blockchain gaming sector: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.
Oasys's vision is to bring traditional Web2 gamers and companies into the Web3 era. As a blockchain platform focused on gaming, Oasys is deeply rooted in Japan's 40-year gaming culture tradition and is committed to building a solid underlying infrastructure for the blockchain gaming sector.
Technical Challenges Faced by Blockchain Games
Although the blockchain gaming industry is currently thriving, it still faces numerous technical challenges. According to industry reports, the total funding for blockchain games reached $280 million in the first quarter of 2024, which is a slight decline from previous years, but still demonstrates the ongoing attractiveness of this field. Against this backdrop, Oasys has proposed targeted solutions.
1. Continuity of game assets
In traditional Web2 games, the game assets that players work hard to accumulate often disappear when the game is shut down. Blockchain technology is expected to solve this problem, but with the popularization of modular architecture, new challenges arise. Oasys has proposed an innovative solution by mapping game assets on a layer two network to a layer one network, ensuring the permanent protection and continuity of user assets.
2. Interoperability of Layer 2 Networks
Oasys adopts a unique "Verse Layer" second-layer network design, with each Verse resembling an independent "small universe". However, interoperability between different second-layer networks has always been a challenge in the industry. To address this, Oasys plans to introduce cross-chain bridge technology to unify data formats and API standards, enabling seamless connections between Verses, allowing users to freely transfer assets and data between different games.
3. Scalability of the ecosystem
Building a sustainably prosperous ecosystem is a major challenge faced by blockchain projects. Oasys collaborates closely with game developers and operators, providing them with the necessary tools and resources to lower technical barriers and promote the ongoing development of the ecosystem. The Oasys Layer One Hub Layer offers comprehensive tool support for developers, while the Oasys Verse Development Kit (VDK) further simplifies the deployment process of Layer Two networks.
Key Planning of the Technical Roadmap
Oasys's technical roadmap is divided into two phases: short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years), aiming to keep pace with the rapid development of the Web3 market.
Short-term plan (within 1 year):
Mid-term plan (2-3 years):
Oasys has made significant progress in short-term planning. Recently, several important projects have launched on the Oasys platform, including XPLA Verse in collaboration with South Korean gaming giant Com2uS, as well as a blockchain game based on the "Captain Tsubasa" IP.
In addition, Oasys has reached a strategic cooperation with Japan's SBI Group and Metabora SG under South Korean internet giant Kakao, further expanding its influence in the Asian market.
Through this series of initiatives, Oasys not only demonstrates its technological innovation capabilities in the blockchain gaming sector but also showcases its determination to collaborate with industry giants to jointly promote the development of blockchain games. With the gradual implementation of the technological roadmap, Oasys is steadily progressing towards the vision of establishing global standards for blockchain gaming, creating real value for players and developers while bringing new experiences and opportunities to the entire gaming industry.
