PANews, September 26 – OpenAI has launched a new assessment tool called GDPval, focused on measuring AI's performance in tasks related to real-world economic value. GDPval covers 44 occupations across the nine industries that contribute the most to the U.S. GDP, with tasks designed by industry experts averaging 14 years of experience. The assessment results show that the Claude Opus 4.1 model produces outputs that are comparable to or better than expert levels in nearly half of the cases. OpenAI stated that it will continue to expand the scope and details of the GDPval assessment in the future.
