The ARK Venture Fund of ARK Invest has just invested approximately 10 million USD in the real asset tokenization company Securitize, making this the eighth largest investment in the fund's portfolio.
According to the report on September 30, Securitize accounted for 3.25% of the total net assets worth 325.3 million USD of the ARK Venture Fund, following investments in AI companies such as X.AI and Anthropic.
This move comes as the trend of tokenizing real assets (RWA) is booming on Wall Street. Traditional banks and asset managers are putting bonds, funds, and stocks on the blockchain to reduce settlement times, expand accessibility, and enable 24/7 trading.
The tokenized asset market has increased by 112% since the beginning of the year, reaching 33 billion USD, and could hit 18.9 trillion USD by 2033, according to forecasts by Ripple and BCG.
Founded in 2017, Securitize, led by CEO Carlos Domingo, is one of the pioneering companies in this field. The company has issued $4.6 billion in tokenized assets, collaborating with major names such as BlackRock, Hamilton Lane, and Apollo. Securitize is also the issuer of BlackRock's tokenized money market fund (BUIDL) — currently leading this segment with $2.8 billion in assets.
ARK's investment is seen as a strategic move to catch up with the global tokenization wave, opening up trillions of USD in potential over the next decade.
