Binance Founder CZ Joins X Space to Clarify Aster Ties and Advisory Role

This weekend, Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao popped into an X space with the Aster crew—a perpetual DEX project—and dished on his advisory role, while disclosing Aster’s links to ex-Binance people and noting that YZi Labs has a minority stake in Aster.

The perp DEX project Aster and its crew fired up an X space today, and none other than Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao slid in to chat. He made it clear his gig with Aster is strictly advisory—nothing more, nothing less.

CZ said:

“I only advise them on product and tech, and I do not advise them on regulatory issues. That’s not my scope, that’s not my specialty. I’m not a lawyer. I got into some trouble before with that. I’m just helping them.”

He further clarified that Aster’s team has Binance ties via former employees: He noted that Aster has “a couple of ex-Binance people” on the team, describing them as “very good people” who have stayed “pretty close to the BNB chain ecosystem.”

CZ called Aster a “very strong project” and pointed out that since BNB is close to his heart, the team’s familiar bond with the BNB ecosystem ends up giving his beloved token an indirect boost. Aster is a project that has been making waves lately, and the native token ASTER tapped an all-time high (ATH) three days ago.

At the time, ASTER shot up to $2.41, reaching an ATH before sliding back to $1.98 today—more than 18% off its peak. Perp DEX platforms and their native tokens have been hogging the spotlight lately, thanks in no small part to Hyperliquid’s waves. Its perp DEX and aptly named token HYPE have stirred the pot and cranked up the buzz to the maximum as of late.
