M-Koin, a Kenyan mobile wallet platform that enables users to accumulates and save their loose change coins, has been launched.
The M-Koin app enables shoppers to save their coins balances in a mobile wallet which they accumulate and could perform a number of tasks with the saved coins. The accumulated coins can be used to pay utility bills, pay for shopping, pay online, buy airtime, buy KPLC tokens and KPLC post-pay, and make Donations and much more.
M-Koin runs on a mobile phone platform App, USSD and online. The USSD option uses *626# service while the M-Koin app is available for download on the Google Play Store.
One of the solutions the app is looking to provide is an easy way for retailers to send loose change to customers and for customers to easily pay for conductor fees in matatus using the loose change collected.
The app and the idea behind the app are no doubt going to offer a solution to a problem that persists in the Kenyan economy where loose change is either exchanged for things like sweets, like in the case of supermarkets, or is simply left behind.
