Sinopec News: Limited demand support, egg prices may rise first and then fall

Last week, egg pre-stocking ahead of Qingming Festival helped lift market demand somewhat, pushing prices to keep moving higher. However, as prices rose to a local high point and downstream pre-stocking neared its end, the market’s shipment pace began to slow, and egg prices weakened and fell. On April 3, the national main producing areas’ average daily egg price was 3.28 yuan per jin, up or down by 0.91% compared with the price at the end of March. Recently, supply of large-size eggs in the national main producing areas has been sufficient, while supply of small-size eggs has been tight. In the past few days, egg prices have fallen to a local low level, and traders’ willingness to restock may increase. Improved demand may also support higher egg prices. But in the South, there has been a lot of rainfall, making egg storage more difficult, so traders may continue to purchase to meet immediate needs. After restocking ends, egg demand may cool off, and there is a risk that egg prices could drop. (Zhuochuang Information)
