Recently, Tsinghua University released employment data for its 2025 graduating class. Thanks to its strong ability to attract talent, BYD ranked No. 2 among private enterprises in terms of employment destinations, and was also the only new energy vehicle manufacturer that made it to the top ranks on that list, highlighting the appeal of “hard-core manufacturing.” In fact, between 2023 and 2025, BYD has continued to become a core employment choice for graduates from leading domestic engineering universities such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, USTC, Harbin Institute of Technology, and others. A wave of top-tier talent quietly gathering into the real economy and heading toward the new energy industry is unfolding.

The continuous influx of top talent stems from BYD’s end-to-end talent ecosystem built around “getting them in, training them well, and keeping them.” In 2024, BYD announced a donation of 3 billion yuan to focus on education philanthropy, to be used for university scholarships and new energy technology popularization, injecting momentum into the development of China’s science and education and cultivating more outstanding science and technology talent. In talent development, BYD has built a comprehensive workplace growth system, and promotes a cultivation model that combines a “tutor system” with a “project system.” More than half of executives and technical backbones have been developed from fresh graduates, helping young talent grow. Between 2023 and 2025, BYD cumulatively recruited more than 50k fresh college graduates. The share of R&D-related positions is nearly 80%, and the proportion of master’s and PhD holders reaches 70%, resulting in a high-quality talent team.

When talent gathers, innovation flourishes. Talent clusters have become BYD’s most core technical competitiveness. As of the end of 2025, BYD has cumulatively applied for more than 71k patents worldwide and obtained more than 42k authorized patents. A series of milestone technological breakthroughs it has launched, such as the blade battery and DM-i super hybrid, all come from continuous breakthroughs by top R&D teams. Today, BYD has more than 120k R&D personnel. As of the third quarter of 2025, its cumulative R&D spending has exceeded 50k yuan. This large technical force helps BYD maintain its position as the global new energy vehicle sales leader and continues to steer the global auto industry toward electrification and intelligentization.

The overseas market has also performed strongly. In 2025, BYD’s overseas sales surpassed 1 million units, up 145% year over year. In January to February 2026, cumulative overseas sales surpassed 200k units, up 42.3% year over year. The overseas market has become BYD’s brightest growth engine.

Behind these results is BYD’s strategic upgrade from “product exports” to “exporting an industrial ecosystem.” On the logistics front, the company has put into operation eight car transport vessels and built an independent logistics fleet covering major routes. On the energy-supplementation front, it plans to complete 20k fast-charging stations via flash charging by the end of 2026 and has started its overseas layout. The continuous improvement of supporting capabilities across the industrial chain is providing strong momentum for sustained expansion in overseas markets.

And the foundation supporting BYD’s global development has always been its sustained investment in top talent. On the afternoon of March 20, the “One Million Talents Serving Southern Guangdong” Shenzhen·Tsinghua University lecture and exchange event was held in the first-floor auditorium of the Tsinghua University Law Library. During the event, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu, drawing on his own entrepreneurial experience, warmly shared: “As a representative of Shenzhen-based enterprises, and also representing BYD, I sincerely invite you: Welcome everyone to graduate and come to Shenzhen, to carve out a new world and do a great事业, and to write more ‘stories of spring’”!

From the delivery of talent from top universities to cultivating an end-to-end corporate ecosystem, from breakthroughs in core technological iterations to guiding global new energy industry transformation, BYD, with its strong ability to attract talent, has gathered the immense strength of China’s intelligent manufacturing, actively practicing the national strategy of “advancing in science and technology through self-reliance and self-strengthening.”
