During the Qingming holiday, traffic volume on Guangdong highways and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge both reached record highs.

On April 7, a reporter learned from the Department of Transportation of Guangdong Province that during the Qingming holiday (April 4–6), Guangdong’s provincial expressways saw a cumulative traffic volume of approximately 30.27M vehicle trips, with an average daily traffic volume of 10.09M vehicle trips, up 19.33% year over year. Of that, on April 6, Guangdong’s provincial expressways recorded approximately 10.84M vehicle trips; the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge handled 31,411 vehicle trips, with both setting new historical records. During the Qingming holiday (April 4–6), Guangdong’s cross-regional people-movement volume totaled approximately 108 million person-trips, up 18.28% year over year. Of that: rail passenger traffic reached 5.7525 million person-trips, up 8.87%. On April 6, Guangdong’s self-operated intercity rail passenger volume reached 271.3k person-trips, setting a new historical high. Road people-movement volume totaled 101 million person-trips, up 19.16%. Waterway passenger traffic totaled 419.3k person-trips. Among them, ferry passenger throughput at the Qiongzhou Strait reached 251k person-trips, up 11.87%. Civil aviation passenger traffic totaled 694.4k person-trips, up 3.71%. (CCTV News)
