Well... I want to ask, if the U.S. agrees to compensate Iran, does that count as a defeated country? This kind of thing hasn't happened before—fighting someone and paying for their medical expenses, or losing the fight and paying compensation.

You can’t trust this—it's a delaying tactic. When they’re that far away, they’re just quietly sneaking around to move troops, transport weapons, and ship supplies. Look at the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War (the 9/11 terrorist attacks—they fought Afghanistan for 20 years): once there’s no money to be made, they won’t keep going.
