According to The Financial Times, Iran plans to charge transit fees for fully loaded oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz during a two-week ceasefire with the United States, with fees denominated in cryptocurrency and other digital assets, approximately $1 per barrel; under the plan, oil tankers must submit cargo information to Iran via email, and after evaluation, complete payment using digital assets such as Bitcoin according to the guidelines. Empty tankers will be exempt from fees. Hamid Hosseini, spokesperson for the Iran Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Products Exporters Association, stated that this move aims to monitor traffic flow through the strait and ensure it is not used for weapons transfers during the ceasefire.
