The Ministry of Finance released data on March 27 showing that in the first two months of this year, the country sold a total of 89.56B yuan in lottery tickets, down 0.9% year over year. Of this, sales by welfare lottery institutions were 29.95B yuan, down 6.6% year over year; sales by sports lottery institutions were 59.61B yuan, up 2.2% year over year. The data shows that in February alone, the country sold 34.31B yuan in lottery tickets, down 18% year over year. This was mainly due to the impact of the Spring Festival holiday period on the lottery market, during which the market was closed in February this year. (Xinhua News Agency)
